Calling for Barn Dances, Country Dances & Ceilidhs

Tom was raised, thanks to a Scottish father, in Scottish country dancing long before he discovered that the English did it too! 'When I first came across English dancing, at a joint Anglo-Scottish evening, I though the English dancing was pretty boring. Later I discovered it was just the way that some English dance clubs (and many others) did it. Thanks to Charlie Bate and Bob Cann - and to Barbara - I discovered that English social dancing could be fun!' As a result, Tom has developed a lively approach to calling which is concerned with ensuring that people have an enjoyable time whether or not they want to do it 'by the book'. He is equally happy working with English or Scottish social dance, but has been known to dabble in American, Irish and even Australian when the occasion demands. Quicksilver is a fully professional band, established in 1983, playing music for dancing and music for listening. The usual line-up of accordion, fiddle and double bass can be supplemented, as occasion demands, with a variety of other musicians, including drums, percussion, guitar, etc. As a dance band, Quicksilver is available full time and plays for major entertainment agencies as well as small local dances, weddings, etc.  Quicksilver works as a concert or cabaret band and well as for more conventional dances and covers a wide range of English, Scottish, Irish and American music.
